On Saturday evening, October 17, 2026, the GLBT Historical Society gathered hundreds of community leaders, activists, and supporters at the landmark Westin St. Francis on Union Square in San Francisco for Reunion 2026, the organization’s annual fundraising gala celebrating LGBTQ+ history, art, and culture. The evening, co-emceed by Honey Mahogany and Sister Roma, kicked off at 6 pm with a cocktail reception and silent auction. The auction featured rare historical items such as original hand-painted canvases by Gilbert Baker, a vintage 1957 issue of The Ladder published by the Daughters of Bilitis, and historic 1977 Gay Freedom Day Parade photo postcards by photographer Marie Ueda—followed by a three-course dinner and formal program at 7 pm.
The gala highlighted the contributions of notable community figures, bestowing History Maker honors upon San Francisco Dykes on Bikes® in celebration of their milestone 50th anniversary, alongside poet, artist, and Glide Memorial Church Minister of Celebration Marvin K. White.
Several members of the San Francisco Bay Times team attended, including columnists Joanie Juster, Donna Sachet, Aaron Boot-Haury, Dr. Bill Lipsky, and Sister Dana Van Iquity.
Supported by presenting sponsors, local civic groups, and additional grassroots community members, the event raised critical funding for the society’s museum and archives currently at 4127 18th Street in the Castro and with preparations underway for a move to an expanded location at 2280 Market Street. This 14,640-square-foot facility is slated to house both the museum and its archives. https://www.glbthistory.org/
