San Francisco’s ‘Trump Regime Takedown’ Strengthened ‘ICE Out for Good’ Nationwide Weekend of Action

Since early 2025, demonstrators have been gathering at the Tesla showroom in San Francisco at 999 Van Ness Avenue near O’Farrell for weekly rallies—originally part of the #TeslaTakedown movement—to protest Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s political actions and particularly his involvement with the Trump administration and the “Department of Government Efficiency.” On January 10, 2026, this weekly protest, now called the Trump Regime Takedown, was added to the nationwide ICE Out for Good demonstrations following the shooting by an ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) agent of Renée Nicole Good on January 7 in Minneapolis, MN.

Good’s wife Becca recorded the shooting, with the video and subsequent other videos of the incident contributing to mounting outrage over the Department of Homeland Security’s increasing deployment of ICE into neighborhoods within democratic strongholds where the agency often uses aggressive tactics for immigration law enforcement.

There have been at least 24 shootings by immigration agents since January 2025, 6 of which have resulted in deaths. Analysts have noted an unusually large proportion of immigration police shootings in this period involved officers firing into moving vehicles, as was the case with Good.

Indivisible SF and 50501 were among the organizers of the January 10 protest at Van Ness and O’Farrell. A statement was released that included, in part: “We mourn the death of Renée Good and vow to protect our communities against ICE. Join us to raise your voice against ICE and the MAGA regime and learn how you can protect your neighborhood.”

Hundreds answered the call, including numerous well-known LGBTQ+ community members and allies

such as San Francisco Bay Times columnists Joanie Juster and Dr. Marcy Adelman, Sister Roma, Gert McMullin, Robert Holgate, and Kelly Rivera Hart.

The single Weekend of Action has been increased to additional days of ICE Out for Good-related protests. In addition to the weekly Trump Regime Takedown each Saturday at noon at 999 Van Ness Avenue, there is a weekly gathering on Sundays in Santa Rosa starting at 11 am on the corner of Bicentennial and Mendocino calling for ICE Out of Home Depot. These protests, organized by Indivisible Sonoma County, have been happening since day laborer Robert Carlos Montoya was struck and killed while being pursued by ICE on August 14, 2025. (Day laborers often gather at hubs like Home Depot for work.) On January 17, there will be a Vigil for Black Lives at Fruitvale Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland starting at 10:30 am.
