New Year’s Eve celebrations were captured by San Francisco Bay Times contributing photographers throughout the Castro, on Polk Street, in Walnut Creek at Rossmoor, and more.

Columnist Donna Sachet joined Gary Virginia and friends at 440 Castro, while Dr. Dee Spencer was among the performers at the annual New Year’s Eve Party at The Academy SF. LGBTQ+ community members also gathered at Polk Street venues, including The Cinch Saloon. Still others joined the crowds gathered to observe the annual fireworks show at the Embarcadero, which could be seen from multiple vantage points throughout the Bay Area.

Also garnering attention was a “fake news” photo of Sister Roma waving at the crowds lining the street in Pasadena for the 2026 Tournament of Roses Parade. (The actual “Believe in San Francisco” float was striking and used over 100,000 blooms, but had previously garnered some criticism for not including any LGBTQ-related imagery.) Replying to those who had posted about the image on social media, Sister Roma said, “It’s not real, but maybe next year!”
