LGBTQ+ Women’s Community Leader and Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club Founder Barbara ‘Boo’ Price Dies

One of the nation’s most impactful and dedicated leaders of the LGBTQ+ women’s community, Barbara “Boo” Price, recently passed following a heart attack. She previously had been in declining health for some time. A post on social media shared by friends noted that, in the hours before her passing, “she noticed a partially open door in her room and asked the nurse if that was the exit, because she was ready to leave. A few hours later, she did just that—moving on to another realm, but never out of our hearts.”

Over her remarkable life, Price was an athlete, attorney, producer, founder of the Montclair Women’s Cultural Arts Club, leader of a San Francisco Bay Times San Francisco Pride Parade contingent highlighting the Women’s Music genre, and so much more. Her extensive network and ability to strengthen community benefited LGBTQ+ individuals, and particularly lesbians, not only locally and nationally but also internationally. A tribute to her will be included in an upcoming issue of the Bay Times. In May 2015, the Bay Times highlighted her club—an important East Bay venue and gathering spot—upon its closing (https://bit.ly/4go4jm3).
