San Francisco’s philanthropic community came together on Friday, September 18, 2026, for Project Open Hand’s annual Hand to Hand Gala. Hosted at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria, the landmark celebration marked a monumental milestone: the organization’s 30 millionth meal delivered to neighbors in need. Guests gathered to honor Project Open Hand’s mission of providing “meals with love” and medically tailored nutrition to critically ill community members and seniors living in the Bay Area.
The evening featured a three-course dinner accompanied by champagne, an inspiring awards program recognizing community leaders, and an exclusive live auction offering coveted items and experiences such as trips to Croatia and Spain. The silent auction also was impressive, with items such as ice skates autographed by gold medal Olympic champions Alysa Liu and Brian Boitano.
Attendees enjoyed entertainment complete with a live band and DJ, which provided a high-energy backdrop to dance the night away. Beyond the festivities, all proceeds raised from ticket sales and auctions directly funded vital nutrition programs that help address illness, support aging with dignity, and reduce social disparities across the region.
