By DJ Lamont—
When Digital Kit Kat had her first DJ lesson with me in April 2018, she stated she was envious of her parent’s generation because they danced to Madonna’s “Holiday” and The Cover Girls’ “Show Me” when the artists and songs were groundbreaking and trendy.
Digital Kit Kat, being inspired by the music played in her home while growing up, envisioned herself behind the DJ decks wanting to share her passion for music. As a child born in the 1990s—a school teacher by day with the SFUSD, and DJ by night—producing underground and mainstream events was her goal. As a DJ, she hosts safe and encouraging spaces for the diaspora of the queer community to come together and dance. “I want an environment where people feel free to express themselves and feel safe doing so,” she says.

Digital Kit Kat has a vast record collection and digital library of electronic dance music and special edits of classic songs such as Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” and lots of Latin Freestyle. If you want to dance in community, follow and engage with Digital Kit Kat. The dance floor awaits!
