Carnaval San Francisco 2022 – Colores de Amor

Carnaval San Francisco was celebrated during a two-day festival, May 28–29, in a multi-block street fair and parade that was produced by CANA (Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Americas). The multicultural celebration included music, dance, and artistry showcasing Lain American, Caribbean, and African diaspora cultures, as well as the talents of Mission District residents.

The festival included international food, dancing, and booths featuring merchandise and information. Carnaval each year embraces people of all creeds, sexualities, gender identities, and abilities in an atmosphere of harmony and revelry for families, couples, and friends of all ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. The Grand Parade for 2022 was held on Sunday, May 29. It started on 24th and Bryant Streets and continued into the Mission District to 15th Street.

Members of the San Francisco Bay Times team managed an information booth and provided a backdrop for photos with festival attendees, exhibitors, and staff. The Bay Times Carnaval team featured Juan R. Davila and Leticia Lopez. Special thanks to them, and to Rink, for contributing to our coverage.
