Cliff’s Variety in the Castro celebrated its 90th Anniversary on June 6, 2026, with a free community extravaganza. The five-hour-long fest included a Family Drag Show hosted by San Francisco Bay Times columnist Donna Sachet, Drag Story Time with San Francisco Drag Laureate Per Sia, a Mascara Drag Show hosted by MGM Grande, a Cliff’s Man Contest hosted by Sister Roma, a DJ set by Juanita MORE!, honors by Mayor Daniel Lurie, and much more.
The San Francisco Bay Times congratulates Cliff’s fifth-generation General Manager and Co-Owner Terry Asten-Bennett, Co-Owner and matriarch Martha Asten, Store Manager Paul Ellis, and the entire Cliff’s team on reaching this landmark anniversary. Here’s to another 90 years plus of this iconic store that is deeply rooted in the LGBTQ+ community.
