San Francisco Bay Times lead designer Beth Greene participated in Utah’s largest LGBTQIA+ event: The Utah Pride Parade. Held in downtown Salt Lake City on Sunday, June 2, 2024, this year’s celebration was the Utah Pride Center’s 34th annual Pride Parade. Its theme was “CommUNITYBuilding Unity Within The Community.” The 2024 Pride Parade consisted of 2,000 participants, over 1,000 volunteers, and 137 floats, including advocate organizations like Way to Quit and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The parade was just one of many events that took place in Salt Lake City during the first week of June. A Pride Interfaith Worship Service has kicked off the Pride Festival for more than two decades. The 2024 Pride Festival began Saturday, June 1, with a rally on the steps of the Utah State Capitol, co-hosted with Equality Utah. The rally was followed by a march to City Hall. The festival included two full days of vendor booths, food and beverage vendors, and activities for the whole family.
