    Renée’s Napa Valley Beat

    By Renée Lubin Holmes—

Greetings Friends: Summer is moving swiftly towards cooler breezes much faster than I’d like to admit. I am sharing my most recent experiences and favorite spots in and around the Napa Valley. This is not to say that there isn’t a plethora of fabulous possibilities and things I’ve tried and have yet to explore. The key word here is “recent.” We all know that things come and go, and, as well, money, chefs, owners, seasons, etc. All these factors of life can affect every experience. That being said, here is a synopsis of my recent favorites.

    Special Cocktails and Tasting Rooms

Robert’s Tropical Table – Calistoga Crafted cocktails are always a treat and the food is tasty. Warm nights are memorable on the patio with music. Enjoy the small intimate indoor area on cooler nights.

    The Fink – Napa

Don’t miss this old-fashioned speakeasy with an extensive encyclopedia of cocktails to choose from. The menu has delicious bites to delight even a picky palate. The Fink offers various events and nightlife fun and entertainment. The consummate host is Judd Finkelstien; you might get lucky enough to meet him and possibly myself for a night of Sunday jazz.

The Gentleman Farmer Bungalow – Napa

This cozy spot is not only a tasting room but also a kitchen where you find great wines, the warmth of kindred spirits, thoughtful noshes, and divine food experiences. Husband team Jeff Durham and Joe Wolosz have created a space to partake in a specialized experience—or simply walk in. If the door is open, you are welcome to enter. You’ll find indoor and outdoor spaces to delight the senses.

    Vin En Noir – Napa

This Black woman owned venue was established by acclaimed Chef Leilani Baugh. She welcomes those new and experienced to enjoy wines, bubbles, and events in her downtown locale. You’re sure to find an “off the beaten path” suggestion to suit your palate. Her expertise in food and cheese pairing in this warm and inviting space will leave you with a smile deep down inside. Check the website (https://vinennoir.com/) for offerings of special events and tastings.

    Best Brunch

Auberge Du Soleil Restaurant – Rutherford

This Michelin star establishment has maintained its status for 19 years coupled with majestic, breathtaking views. ‘Nuff said!
