Sunny with a Chance of Flowers Positively Pinot Noir, Monterey, California $15–17
Wine that’s affordable and lighter in alcohol? Sounds like a sip perfect for the new year. This delectable red wine is juicy and crisp with dark cherry fruit notes and clocks in at only 85 calories a glass. Many think a lower alcohol wine might not have much complexity or mouthfeel, but this sustainably farmed Pinot has it all. With only 9 percent alcohol (most other California Pinots tip the scales at between 13–14 percent), it’s light/medium bodied and perfect to pair with a variety of dishes from roast chicken to fleshy fish and grilled Portobello mushrooms. And it’s not just Pinot Noir that Sunny Wines produces. The lineup also includes pink, white, and more red options. Give these wines a try and bring some sunshine to your January.
