Dore (Up Your Alley) Fair was so much fun, especially the small stage of leather men doing aerobics led humorously by Sister Roma with whom I happily took a snapshot. I also trulyenjoyed the after-party at my dear friend Steve Pi’s garden and garage.
The Trump administration has weakened America’s counterterrorism defenses by downsizing staff, politicizing intelligence, cutting grants, and forcing federal agents to focus on immigration enforcement, according to a new report by Democratic lawmakers on the Senate Homeland Security Committee. The MadMinistration’s actions have left Americans far more vulnerable to a potential terrorist act, and left law enforcement officers and agents without the tools to protect our nation. Sister Dana sez, “Now that Repugnicans in the Senate have confirmed unqualified, ‘Big Lie’ guy Jay Clayton as Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, we need to practice dropping to our knees and hiding under our desks! It’s World War III!”

Most evangelicals feel entitled to hate LGBTQ people and deprive us from our civil rights—backing their bigotry with supposed Bible verses. Side note: Didn’t Jesus say there is only one commandment, to love thy neighbor as thyself? Hello!? We queers are your neighbor! This book shows the history of evangelical gay activism versus the making of anti-gay Xtianity. Exceptional!
I was so impressed by a recent TV interview about winning back voters, when former Wisconsin Democratic Chair Ben Wikler (who ran to be the chair of the DNC, but unfortunately lost) addressed several important issues we Democrats should campaign on. He said that, when we win the midterm election, there will be three topics to consider: abolishing the electoral college to be just one person and one vote, doing away with the filibuster, and setting term limits for members of the Supreme Court. Sister Dana sez, “Amen and so be it!”

Recent studies have found that there have been 534 federal investigations into 383 threats against 286 judges since October, according to data managed by the U.S. Marshals Service. Sister Dana sez, “Hey Trump, quit encouraging your ‘loyal’ January 6 insurrectionists to dox judges that you hate, and start acting presidential. I realize that’s a stretch for you—but it’s a start!”
August is officially recognized as Transgender History Month in San Francisco and the state of California. The annual observance honors the contributions, culture, and resilience of the transgender community while commemorating major historical milestones.
Ken Jennings, original grand winner and now host of TV’s Jeopardy!, proved that he is a champion in more ways than one. Let me just quote his bold statement: “Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights,” he wrote on the social media site Bluesky, an alternative to evil Elon Musk’s X. “And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other.” Jennings reaches around eight million viewers every night on a major broadcast network, and he’s not afraid to make it clear that trans rights are a top concern of his. Sister Dana sez, “In the proper rules of ‘Jeopardy!,’ let me respond as a contestant: ‘What is Trans Activism?’”
Where We Made Room is an ongoing stupendous solo exhibition at the GLBT Historical Museum, 4127 18th Street and archival installation by artist Aleo Landeta, exploring the queer and trans home as a space carved out, imagined, and fought for. Drawing on the GLBT Historical Society Archives, Landeta layers large-scale cyanotypes on silk with hand-drawn interiors based on the homes of such Bay Area queer and trans elders as Lou Sullivan, Phyllis Lyon & Del Martin, and Victoria Fernandez (Vicki Starr).The show brings together archival images of domestic life, personal photographs, original drawings, and a listening station where visitors can record their own memories of home, creating a living archive where intergenerational memory becomes a form of resistance. The Tony Award-Winning San Francisco Mime Troupe has opened their 67th season with: WRECKAGE: A Musical Tragicomedy written by Michael Gene Sullivan, now through September 7 in various venues throughout the Bay Area and beyond. WRECKAGE asks the political question: How are we going to survive and rebuild in the rubble left from the economic, social, and psychological devastation of the idiotic kleptocrats? This year, Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada will happen from August 30 to Labor DaySeptember 7, with the big finale of this gigantic wooden figure being ceremoniously set on fire.This year, it has the art theme “Axis Mundi,” focusing on the cosmic center connecting humanity and nature. Sister Dana sez, “I began attending Burning Man proudly and openly as a nun yearly from 1985–2001. Alas, I had to stop because I became just too old to endure the extreme heat and to sleep in the dirty damn dust!”
