    2026 PRC Mighty Real Gala

San Francisco’s historic Bimbo’s 365 Club was the venue for PRC’s 2026 Mighty Real gala, held on October 2, 2026. Centered on the theme “Legacy, Purpose, Future,” the evening brought together community members, civic advocates, and local leaders to rally behind PRC’s vital work in behavioral health, housing, workforce development, and legal advocacy. Highlighting the power of collective generosity, the event raised crucial funds to sustain the organization’s life-saving programs for vulnerable San Franciscans. An official total has not yet been released, but over $250,000 was raised at last year’s Mighty Real gala, and over $200,000 was raised in 2024.

Significantly, the organization announced that it is in the process of changing its name to Ascend, mentioning: “Over time, our services and teams became more connected. We wanted a name that could speak for the whole organization and make room for what comes next. Ascend does that.”

The gala honored key figures whose leadership and devotion continue to shape the city’s social safety net. Among those recognized were Dr. Monica Gandhi (Vanguard Leadership Award) and the Marsh McLennan Agency (Outstanding Corporate Partnership Award).. Leadership underscored the nonprofit’s expanding impact under the guidance of CEO Dr. Deborah Hawkes, whose vision set a triumphant, forward-looking tone for the night.

Donna Sachet of the San Francisco Bay Times was in attendance with Gary Virginia, continuing a long tradition of advocacy and community support. They have supported the organization for decades, helping spearhead crucial fundraising efforts such as the annual Pride Brunch that for 25 years, before it was retired, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to bolster the nonprofit’s mission. Their presence underscored the deep-rooted, enduring bond between San Francisco’s LGBTQ+ leadership and the organization’s transformative community care. https://prcsf.org/
