Grammy Nominee Nadirah Shakoor Makes Rare Appearance in the Castro

Grammy nominee Nadirah Shakoor, the former lead singer of Arrested Development and who has been a longtime member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, made a rare appearance in the Castro for Black History Month. (With the Coral Reefer Band in 2024, she performed a sold-out show at the 17,500-seat Hollywood Bowl.)

On February 21, 2025, Shakoor performed at the Honoring LGBTQ+ Black Women Leaders & Allies event at The Academy SF as part of the Divas & Drinks series. The series is produced by the San Francisco Bay Times.

The event—a rare intimate, small setting for recording artist Shakoor—was so popular that she is staying on in Northern CA and will be performing again in the Castro, on Saturday, March 1, at Catch French Bistro, to help kickoff Women’s History Month. Check her out as well at Instagram and FB.
