The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, conducted by Jacob Stensberg, concluded their 48th season with Dolly! A Pride Show, a joyful tribute to the music and spirit of Dolly Parton. The production, presented during two shows at the Curran Theatre on June 13, 2026, featured choral arrangements of her greatest hits—seamlessly blending glitz, rhinestones, and powerful vocals—and a “Dolly look-alike contest.”
Parton remains a popular queer icon, such that El Rio held its 20th annual Dolly Parton Hoot just a few weeks later, on July 11. In December, Parton’s life story will be told in Dolly: A True Original Musical, a Broadway show that will be debuting at the St. James Theatre in New York City. Parton is now writing new material for the musical that hopefully will make it to San Francisco in future.
