Sister Dana sez, “Trump will NOT be attending the 25th Anniversary Ceremony commemorating the September 11th Attack on the World Trade Center in Ground Zero New York.”
This is reportedly because Trump is not allowed to deliver a speech, according to The National September 11 Memorial Museum, which oversees the site and has worked tirelessly to keep the memorial nonpartisan and to focus on the gravity of that day. And, since 2011, it has barred any speeches by politicians. Instead, politicos stand down alongside their peers as families step onto a stage to read the names of thousands of dead over the course of hours. Vice President Vance will take Trump’s place while dictator Donald is expected to make his usual anti-Democratic, anti-DEI, hateful speech at The Pentagon.
No thanks to Emperor Trump, he has raised our National Debt to an unbelievable 40 trillion dollars, while starting a war against Iran, giving tax breaks to billionaires, and redecorating everything in gold! Why is the National Debt always blamed on Congressional Democrats but never Congressional Republicans? Sister Dana sez, “We need to double our efforts to win the midterms and eventually dump Trump!”
Fabulosa Books, 489 Castro Street, hosted yet another delightful Author Talks evening on August 25 with Love Is a Contact Sport by Frederick Smith. After dropping off his youngest child at college, recently divorced Brent D. King DuPree is on a journey to freedom, liberation, and living the life he put on hold for over twenty years to raise his family. But figuring out life as a newly out and newly single man, Brent is hesitant about stepping into the Bay Area gay scene until a chance reunion with his first real crush, and the guy he never quite forgot, his peer mentor and tutor in college, Renny Ross. Smith has given us an amazing Black gay romance story. If you, like me, are a sucker for rom-com, this is your book! Incidentally, the book title plays off the title of Whitney Houston’s “Love Is a Contact Sport.”
Malignant narcissistic Trump has to rename everything. He wants to fight the court to put his name back onto the Kennedy Center. He changed the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.” He is trying to change Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” I have been to Mexico and Canada, which were delightful experiences. Mexico and Canada used to be our top two trading partners. Having become “bored” with his war against Iran, he is now at “war” with Canada—our close neighbor and best ally. Sister Dana sez, “I will NOT EVER be traveling to the Gulf of America or to Lake America! How about you?!”
I just want to send a big thank-you shoutout to my friend Fred Williams, a computer whiz who lovingly made me a brand-new computer from scratch—because the old one was so old and sooo slow, and many times completely frozen. For instance, terrible Trump had the nerve to post an AI image of him arm-in-arm with the great, late Dolly. What a huge insult and offense to her legacy against basically anything that this anti-DEI idiot stands for.
About 100 of us Dolly lovers and fans gathered in the Castro Station area to hold a suddenly announced vigil and memorial for Ms. Parton on the day she passed. Even though it was an extremely sad day, we honored her by joyfully singing some of her many, momentous hit songs. Hosted by 2026 Foxy Mary winner (at us Sisters’ annual Easter in the Park fundraiser) Dirty Carol (as in “Channing”), we sang along with her to such Dolly favorite hits as “I Will Always Love You,” “Here You Come Again,” “Nine to Five,” and “Jolene.” Carol gave a beautiful epitaph, saying, “If Dolly Parton had been voted for President of America, she would have won by a landslide!” Sister Roma (in an extremely rare just guy—not nun appearance—lacking her usual veil and makeup for lack of time) extolled Dolly and mentioned that we Sisters had proudly sainted her. Sister Dana (no makeup, no robe, only black and silver nun veil) even got a shout-out! I really must mention that Dolly was responsible for helping fund and promote the Covid vaccine—and after seven shots in my arm, I have never had the disease. Thank you and bless you, dearest Saint Dolly, defender of the LGBTQ community and HIV people!
Exactly 63 years to the date after Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his emotional, inspirational “I Have a Dream” speech, a new Washington, D.C., march took place on August 28 calling for the protection of voting rights (the Supreme Court having gutted them with its despicable Voting Rights Act) and civil rights. The Reverend Al Sharpton was one of the organizers. Also giving fiery speeches were Senator Bernie Sanders, Congresswoman Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Martin Luther King III, granddaughter Arndrea Waters King, House Minority Leader Representative Hakeem Jeffries, and President and CEO of the national civil rights organization National Urban League Marc Morial. Thousands marched, and one of my favorite T-shirts succinctly stated: “Democracy Isn’t Perfect; We Need To Vote Again!”

National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD) is observed annually on September 18 to highlight the growing population of older adults living long, healthy lives with HIV. Established in 2008 by The AIDS Institute, the observance addresses the unique medical, social, and emotional needs of people aged 50 and older who are aging with HIV.
