Under One Roof, the non-profit organization that gives 100% of profits from social enterprise initiatives to AIDS/HIV causes and has for more than 20 years, informed the Bay Times this week that it will extend its pop-up location in the heart of the Castro throughout the holiday season.
Additionally, Under One Roof informed us of a $25,000 disbursement for local AIDS/HIV non-profits.
The check will be presented at a Holiday Premier event, which will be open to the public and held on November 1 at the Under One Roof storefront at 541 Castro Street in San Francisco. (RSVP for the event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/526217524130368/) The event will feature special tastings of Barefoot Wines, local artists, holiday music, and a few special presentations, in addition to the presentation of the check.
“We are ecstatic about extending our stay in our spiritual home in the heart of the Castro,” said Tony Hart, UOR’s Board Chairman. “We look forward to having a fabulous holiday store to serve customers in the Castro and ultimately, all of the community members we directly support through donations.”
UOR’s presence in the Castro is an example of the organization delivering on its Greater DEPTHS plan.
The Greater DEPTHS vision currently outlines the organization’s return to its seasonal and holiday legacy with periodic pop-up sales events, an expanded fundraising program, new partnerships with other community-based organizations, a strategic focus on ecommerce, and an enhanced volunteer network.
• Development of new financial support
• Education and Awareness of HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ issues
• Partnering with community forces and resources
• Timely and Temporary social enterprises
• Helping Hands via the UOR Volunteer Network
• Support, the very reason UOR exists–the plan is aimed at
providing human capital and generating unrestricted funding donations to HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ support organizations
in need.
The Under One Roof Castro pop-up, which launched in time for Pride month and was initially dubbed the Summer Bizarre Bazaar, features mostly donated goods to ensure optimal proceeds to help its HIV/AIDS Agency Partners, along with loyal consignment partners like SF Mercantile, and select local artists like Katie Gilmartin.
The holiday themed incarnation of the Castro pop-up will feature new merchandise and fabulous festive trimmings, giftwraps and anything else you’d need to celebrate the holidays in style–all while supporting our community.
Created in 1991, Under One Roof was the first non-profit retail store of its kind. Donations can be made directly at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1421657.
